OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Identify the situation for the conversation between Nam and Peter (setting, participants, topics); 2. Ask and answer questions about quantity of thing, using the sentence patterns: How many ______ are there? ̶ There are ______. 3. Keep their house clean ; Love their house and live responsibly. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: How many ______ are there? ̶ There are ______. - Vocabulary: fans, mirrors, doors, windows C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 3, Student’s book page 26. - Track (Unit 12-page 14). - 4 pictures of things in room (Activity 2 – page 26). - Situational pictures and character cards. - A computer and a projector. STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE Performance Tasks Performance products Assessment tools 1. STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Warmer: Greeting and watching - Greet the students. - Get Ss to play a game of “Bingo”. - Give comments. - Tell students that they are going to read a dialogue in which students talk about quantity of thing. Activity 1: Language input (Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Ask students to look at the two pictures (page 26) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (Nam and Peter) 2. Where are they? (in the canteen) 3. What are they doing?( talking about quantity of thing) - Ask students to look at picture b (Activity 1) (page 26) and answer the following questions: 4. What does Nam ask Peter? (How many cups are there?) 5. What does Peter answer? (There are six.) - Elicit the sentence patterns: “How many ______ are there? ̶ There are ______.” - Tell students that they are going to practice talking about quantity of thing using : How many ______ are there? ̶ There are ______. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue. - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. Activity 2: full controlled & less controlled Task 1: Point and say - Tell ss that they are going to practise saying sentences with “How many ______ are there? ̶ There are ______.” - Ask Ss fill in the speech bubbles. - Ask Ss to repeat. - Ask Ss to practice in pairs asking and answering, using the pictures in Student Book. - Monitor the activity.
- - Call on a pair to perform. Task 2: Let’s talk - Tell Ss that they are going to practice more with their friends. - Give a few seconds for ss to look at the pictures. - Elicit the words to fill the gap. - Write the instructions on the board and get ss to repeat them a few times. - Get Ss to work in pairs. - Go around the class and help Ss if necessary. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Ask and answer about quantity of thing , using the sentence pattern “How many ______ are there? ̶ There are ______.”.) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (show pride of their things, love and keep their house clean.) - Remind students to prepare for the next lesson. Self-study: Lesson 2 (page 27). D. Love their house and keep their it tidy and clean. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Listen and fill the gapped sentences with the words fan and cup. - Say the chant: How many desks? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 3, Student’s book page 28 - Track (Unit 14-page 28), - Letters a and u in the words: fan and cup. Activity 1: Language input (Activity 1: Listen and repeat.) - Have Ss open their books page 28. - Tell Ss that they are going to review phrases of saying fan and cup. - Produce the sounds of the letters a and u in the words: fan and cup. - Play the tape. - Play the tape again. Activity 2: full controlled & less controlled Task 1: Listen and write. - Have Ss open their books to page 28. - Get Ss to talk about the way to do the task. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen and write the missing words in the sentences 1 and 2. - Listen and check answer. - Ask Ss trade their answers within pairs or groups for correction. - Ask 3-4 Ss to read their answers aloud to the class - Listen and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat each line of the dialogues. Task 2: Let’s chant. How many desks? - Ask Ss to look at the chant in their books. - Play the tape and ask Ss to listen. - Play the tape again. - Ask Ss to practice singing in groups. - Call on one group to perform the chant at the front of the class Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today?
