Knowledge: By the end of this period, students will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic Introduction. - Introduce someone, using This is + (name). 2. Competences: - Problems solving and creation - Communication and cooperation - Self-learning, independent working and pair work, group work - Linguistic competence 3. - - Have Ss play the game: It’s Hello How Noughts and Crosses - Ss play the game in groups. - Introduce the new lesson by writing the title on the board . - Draw pupils’ attention to the title of the unit and check their comprehension. - Have them repeat it once or twice. - Teacher tells the class the objects of the lesson. I. Presentation 1.Teach vocabulary:(6’) - Present new words by pointing to a student when T stands near him. (this, this is ).Write them on the board - Have students listen and repeat each new word. - Have pupils look at the pictures on page 18. - Ask pupils to identify the character in the pictures. - Present the situation. - Play the recording for pupils to listen and say along. - Have students work in pairs to read play role. - Call some pairs to read in front of the class. 2. Introduce sentence pattern: (6’) - Have pupils look at pictures on Page 12. Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names. - Teach vocabulary: This - Model sentence: This is Tony. - Ask pupils to guess and complete the speech bubbles. - Model: Call someone to practice in front of the whole class. Practice in group. Allocate the parts of the characters Mai and Nam to the pupils. Ask them to point the pictures and act out the dialogues. Using the pictures in their books. Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation errors (stress, assimilation of sounds, intonation) when necessary. - Call on some groups to perform their task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. II. Practice *Let’s talk: (6’) - Ask students to look at the pictures in the book. - Ask them to identify the characters in the pictures.

Production * Play “School bus game” -T guides ss to play the game: ss introduce the people who are on the school bus by using “ This is_______” D. HOME-LINK(2’) - Practise introducing about their friends and their family member : use “This is______” - Prepare Unit 3.Lesson 1: 4-6, a picture of their family or their friends. Quality: - Ss confident in communicate with their friends - Ss love English, friends and teacher. 4. Skills: Listening and writing skills 5. Vocabulary: yes, no, that, is that, isn’t 6. Grammar point: Is that (Quan)? Yes, it is/ No, it isn’t.It’s (Phong) B. TEACHING AIDS

PROCEDURES *Warm-up: (5’) * “Chalkboard Fun” game - Divide the class into four teams. - Each student takes out a small chalkboard, rag and a piece of chalk. - Prepare some flashcards or pictures about characters and sticks them on the board. - Say a name then give the students fifteen seconds to write down. - When the time is up, all the students hold up the chalkboards. - Give the team which has all the correct answers one point. - The team that gets the most points wins. - Continue in the same way. I. Presentation 1.Teach vocabulary: That yes No is not = isn’t It - Check vocab: what and where - Elicits the structures Is that Tony? - Yes, it is. Is that Quan? - No, it’s isn’t. It’s Phong - Have Ss look at the pictures at the part 1. Look, listen and reapeat on page 20. - Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names. Ask Ss to guess and complete the speech bubbles. - T models/ allocates the parts of characters Mai and Nam to Ss use structure: Is that Tony? - Yes, it is. Is that Quan? - No, it’s isn’t. It’s Phong - Ask them to act out the model dialogue. Repeat the step with some other pairs for pictures - Have Ss practice acting out the dialogue point and use the information in picture a, b, c and d to practice in pairs. Monitor the activity and offer held. Correct pronunciation errors (stress, assimilation of sounds, intonation) when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The others observe and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation 2. Introduce sentence pattern. - Have Ss to look at the book at page 20. - Elicit the character and have Ss guess what they are saying. - Set the scene: we are going to learn new phrases Is that Tony? It’s Phong - Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles two times. - Divide the class into two groups. One repeat Mai’s part and the other repeat Nam’ part. - Ask Ss practice in pairs. - Monitor the activity. - Call on some pairs to practice at the front of the class. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases. II. Practice *Let’s talk - Have pupils look at each of the picture on page 20. - Ask pupils to identify the character in the pictures. - Guide Ss to do the task. - Get ss practice in groups. - Monitor the activity. - Call on some pairs to practice at the front of the class. III. Production. * Play Brown Squirrel and acorn” game -Guide ss to play the game.There are 9 questions. -Divide the class into two teams. If the team chooses the correct answer ,the squirrel will pick up an acorn. - At the end of the game, the team that has the most acorn will be the winner. D. Homelink: - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures -Prepare the following lesson:Unit 2: lesson 1:1-3
