- WEEK:5 Teaching date: 12 / 10 / 2021 Period :20 UNIT 4: HOW OLD ARE YOU ? Lesson 1: 1-3 A.OBJECTIVES 1. Knowledge: By the end of this period, students will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic Ages. - Ask and answer questions about someone, using Who’s that? It’s 2. Competences: - Problems solving and creation - Communication and cooperation - Self-learning, independent working and pair work, group work - Linguistic competence 3. Quality: - Ss confident in communicate with their friends. - Ss love English, friends and teacher. 4. Skills: Listening and writing skills 5. Vocabulary: who, that, Mr 6. Grammar point: Who’s that ? It’s _______ B. TEACHING AIDS 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, chalk, board, ruler, projector/TV, laptop and flashcards, balls 2. Students’ aids: Students’ books, workbooks, notebooks C. PROCEDURES *Warm-up: (5’) - Sing “How are you?” song. -- T plays a song “How are you?” for ss to watch -Ss sing along the song and do actions. - Teacher tells the class the objects of the lesson. I. Presentation
- 1.Teach vocabulary:(6’) - Show pictures on the screen to present new words (who,that, Mr ). - Have students listen to each new word. - Show the pictures of the part 1.Look,listen and repeat on the projector and ask students to open the books. - Ask Ss to identify the characters in the picture on page 24 and what they are saying. - Set the scene “you are going to listen to hear Mai and Nam, Linda and Nam ask and answer questions introduce someone. - Play the recording and asks Ss to listen to the tape. - T asks Ss to listen and repeat in chorus two times. - Call on four Ps. One repeats Mai’s part, the other repeats Nam’s part. - Have whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation. And do the same with the dialogue between Linda and Nam 2. Introduce sentence pattern: (6’) - Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering the question : Who’s that? It’s________ - Draw pupils’ attention to the pictures. - Point to each character and elicit his/her name and what each character says. - Elicit the word to fill the gap. - Write the question and the answer on the board and have pupils repeat them once or twice. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Do choral and individal repetition, using the characters’ names. - Get pupils to work in pairs. Check as a class. II. Practice * Let’s talk - Tell pupils that they are going to practise more with their friends. Point to each character eliciting the name. Ask pupils to guess what the children say. Fill the gaps and write the sentences on the board. Get pupils to repeat the sentences a few times. - Get pupils to work in pairs or groups of three to interact. - Call a few pairs to act out asking and answering about someone in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation, if necessary. III. Production. Task 3. Project - Tell pupils that they are going to make their name cards and present them to their class. - Check understanding. - Get pupils to prepare necessary school things to carry out the project (paper, pens, coloured pencils, scissors, glue, etc.)
- - Give pupils time to do the project in class. - Get pupils to work in groups. - Go around to offer help. If there is not enough time, ask pupils to finish the project as homework. - Call several individuals to the front of the class to present their cards, using their name cards and saying Hello. I’m + (name). - Have pupils stick their cards on the walls of the classroom. - Have the class sing the Hello song and say the Hello chant to end the class. D. Homelink: - Show the cards to your parents and talk about them -Prepare the following lesson:Unit 2: lesson 2:1-3 .. WEEK:5 Teaching date: 12/ 10 / 2021 Period :22 UNIT 4: HOW OLD ARE YOU? Lesson 2 :1-3 A.OBJECTIVES 1. - 5. Vocabulary: numbers (from one to ten), year old, he, she, how old 6. Grammar point: How old are you? I’m __________ year(s) old. B. TEACHING AIDS 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, chalk, board, ruler, projector/TV, laptop and flashcards, balls 2. Students’ aids: Students’ books, workbooks, notebooks C. PROCEDURES *Warm-up: (5’) * Slap the board 1 2 3 - Have Ss play the game: - Ss play the game in groups. 4 5 6 - Introduce the new lesson by writing the title on the board . - Draw pupils’ attention to the title of the unit and check their comprehension. - Have them repeat it once or twice. - Teacher tells the class the objects of the lesson. I. Presentation 1.Teach vocabulary:(6’) - Present new words by showing them on the screen. - Have students listen and repeat each new word. - Have Ss to look at the book at page 26. - Elicit the character and have Ss guess what they are saying. - Set the scene: we are going to learn new phrases - Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles two times. - Divide the class into three groups. One repeat Mai’s part and the others repeat Nam’s part and teacher’s part. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation. 2. Introduce sentence pattern: (6’)
- - Have Ss look at the pictures on page 26 - Elicit the structures How old are you? - I’m eight years old. - Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names. Ask Ss to guess and complete the speech bubbles. - T models/ allocates the parts of characters Miss Hien and Tom to Ss - Ask them to act out the dialogue1. Repeat the step with some other pairs for pictures - Have Ss practice acting out the dialogue in pairs, using the pictures. - Monitor the activity and offer held. Correct pronunciation errors (stress, assimilation of sounds, intonation) when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The others observe and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. II. Practice *Let’s talk: (6’) - Show picture and give task. - Have Ps work in pairs to ask and answer questions about someone’s age. - Display in class, others comment - Listen and correct. - Have Ps practise III. Production * Play “Rabbit and Turtle” game. - T shows the game on the screen.There are 8 sentences. - T guides ss to play the game: click on the rabbit if you choose true, click on the turtle if you choose false. D. HOME-LINK(2’) - Practise asking and answering about the age of their friends and their family member : use “How old are you? I’m _____ years old” - Prepare Unit 4.Lesson 2: 4-6, a picture of their family or their friends.
