- Week: 8 Teaching date: 02 / 11 / 2021 Period :42 UNIT 7: THAT’S MY SCHOOL Lesson 1: 1-3 A. OBJECTIVES 1. Knowledge: By the end of this period, students will be able to: - Talk about school facilities 2. Competences: - Problems solving and creation. - Communication and cooperation - Self-learning, independent working and pair work, group work - Linguistic competence 3. Quality: - Love their school - To keep their school clean 4. Skills: Listening, writing and speaking skills 5. Vocabulary: school, big, small, gym, library, computer room, playground 6. Grammar point: That’s my school. Is it big?-Yes, it is/No, it isn’t. It’s small. B. TEACHING AIDS 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, chalk, board, ruler, projector/TV, laptop and flashcards. 2. Students’ aids: Students’ books, workbooks, notebooks C. PROCEDURES *Warm-up: (5’) *Play the game: "Read my lips" game + Divide the class into teams. + Teacher says a sentence silently. + Have the students try to guess what the teacher said. + Give that team one point if it’s a correct guess. + The team that gets the most points wins. - Lead in the new lesson. I. Presentation. 1. Teach vocabulary: - Get pupils to open their books on Page 46 and read the title. - Show pictures to introduce the new words: school, big, small, gym, library, computer room, playground.
- - Have students listen and repeat to each new word. - Have some students read the new words in front of the class. -Have the class look at the pictures of the part 1. Look, listen and repeat on the projector and ask students to open the books. - Elicit the character and have Ss guess what they are saying. - Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles two times. - Divide the class into two groups. One repeat Mai’s part and the other repeat Linda’ part. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation. - Ask pupils to practice in pairs to act out the dialogue. - Go round and check pupils can repeat and understand the dialogue. - Check some pairs. Ask other pupils to give comments. - Give comments. 2. Introduce sentence pattern: (6’) - Tell the class that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about school facilities using: * Structure: That’s my school. - Have Ss look at the pictures on page 46. - Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names. Ask Ss to guess and complete the speech bubbles. - Model: Call some Ss to talk about school facilities. Ask them to point the pictures and make sentences. Using the pictures in their books. Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation errors (stress, assimilation of sounds, intonation) when necessary. - Call on some Ss to perform their task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. II. Practice * Let’s talk. - Ask students to look at the pictures in the book. - Ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. - Ask Ss work in pairs. Call some pairs to act out - Correct their pronunciation. III.Production * Playing “ the magic circle game”: - Show the game on the screen. - Explain the game and how to play: there are 7 sentences. Look at the table and fill in the gaps.
- - Divide the class into two teams. Each team will spin the magic circle. If the team answer the correct answer , that team will be added the number of points corresponding to the position of the stop arrow. - Continue until every team has had a turn. - At the end of the game, the team who has the most point will win. D. HOME-LINK (2’) - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. II. Practice * Let’s talk. - Have Ss look at the pictures on page 48.
- - Tell ss that they are going to practice more with their friends. - Point to the first picture and ask Ss to guess what they say. - Ask Ss fill the speech bubbles. - Have Ss repeat the sentences in the bubbles. - Ask ss to work in pairs. - Monitor the activity. - Call a few pairs to the front of the class to act out the dialogue. III.Production * Play “ Bees looking for honey” game. - Show the game on the screen. - Explain the game and how to play: there are 8 questions. Each question has 4 options. - Divide the class into two teams. The bee will look for honey if the team chooses the correct answer. - At the end of the game the team that has more points will win. D. HOME-LINK (2’) - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures
