Have a sense of to taking care their healthy and to care for other people. and identify how to prevent some common diseases. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS Vocabulary backache, take a rest, carry heavy things. STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Warmer: Greeting and checking. - Greet the students. Then get the class to sing the song: “What’s the matter with you” - Tell students that they are going to read a dialogue in which students give and respond to advice on common health problems. Activity 1: Language input (Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Ask students to look at the four pictures (page 8) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (They are Mai, Quan and Nam) 2. Where are they? (at the gym) 3. What are they doing? (talking about Nam’s health problem.) - Ask students to look at picture c (Activity 1) (page 8) and answer the following questions: 4. What does Mai advise Nam? (You should go to the doctor) 5. What does Nam respond to? (Ok, I will) - Elicit the sentence patterns: You should/ shouldn’t.....Yes,I will/ Ok,I won’t. - Tell students that they are going to practise giving and responding to advice on common health problems. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice Activity 2: Point and say.) - Use pictures to elicit: a.go to the doctor. b.go to the dentist. c.take a rest . d.eat a lot of fruit e.carry heavy things f.eat a lot of sweets.. - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in the bubbles and the word under the picture.
  3. Teacher: You should go to the doctor Student: Yes, I will. Thanks.. - Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures. - Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. - Call on some pairs to role-play the dialogue in front of the class. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Activity 3: Let’s talk - Have students think that their friends are not well. They must give advices on their friends’ health problems. Eg: S1: I have a toothache. S2: You should go to the doctor. S1: Ok, I will. Thanks. - Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. - Ask students to give their feedback. Activity 4: Wrap -up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (give and respond to advice on common health problems, using “You should/ shouldn’t....Yes,I will/ Ok,I won’t”) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (have a sense of taking care of their own health and identify how to prevent some common diseases.) - Remind students to Prepare lesson 2. Week:20 Date of teaching: 02/02/2023 Period :74 UNIT 11: WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YOU? Lesson 2: 4-5-6 STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Giving and responding to advice on common heath proplems. 2. Listen and complete the table. 3. Read and complete the gapped conversations, using the words provided. 4. Play the game Charades: What’s the matter with you? 5. Have a sense of taking care of their own health and identify how to prevent some common diseases.

Mrs Green: shouldn’t carry heavy things Activity 2: Read and complete then say aloud. - Tell the class that they are going to read the text and complete the conversations. - Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and guess the words to fill the blanks.

Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (ask and answer questions about common health problems, using “What’s the matter with you? I have ”) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson?
