- Week:29 Teaching date: 22 /04/2022 Period:129 UNIT 20: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO THIS SUMMER? Lesson 2( 1,2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Students will be able to: 1. identify situation for conversation. 2. Ask and answer question about what someone plans to do using Sentence Patterns:What are you going to do? ̶ I’m going to ______. 3. Learn to plan meaningful thing on vacation B. LANGUAGE FOCUS 1. Vocab: stay in a hotel, eat seafood, build sandcastles, go on a boat cruise 2. Key grammartical structure: What are you going to do? ̶ I’m going to ______. C. RECOURCE Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, flashcards, projector . Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE (Assessment tasks) (Assessement (Assessment tools) products) 1. Look and recognize the Ss’ answers Questions and situation for a conversation answers. 2. - STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES Warmer: - Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by calling some Ps to the front of the class to sing the song “You are happy in summer holiday” Task 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the dialogue about how the characters ask and answer questions about future plans. - Ask Ps to look at the four pictures to identify the characters and the context - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen and repeat the language. - Do choral and individual repetition. - Divide the class into two groups - Play the recording again for Ps to listen and repeat. - Call some pairs to perform the task in front of the class. Task 2. Point and say. - Tell pupils that they are going to ask and answer questions about future plans. - Have Ps look at the bubbles to understand how the language is used. - Ask Ps to look at the four pictures to identify what the Ps are going to do in the future. - Write them on the board and ask Ps to write them in their book. - Point to the first picture and model the task with one pupil, using the question in the first bubble and the phrase under the picture for the answer: - Ask Ps to say the question and the answer chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures. - Ask pupils to practise in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the picture cues. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.
- - Select some pairs of Ps to demonstrate the task in front of the class. Task 3. Let’s talk. - Tell Ps that they are going to revise what they have learnt in Lesson 1 and Lesson 2, using facts about themselves with two questions: - Ask Ps to work in pairs: one asks the questions and the other gives the answers, using their own future plans. - Select some pairs to role-play in front of the class. - Ask some Ps to answer the questions in Activity 3. Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Ask and answer questions about what some plans to do.) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson?( Learn to plan meaningful thing on vacation) * Home-link Remind students to self-study lesson 2(4-6) and prepare for the next lesson; unit 20. Lesson 3(1-3) D. - Period:131 UNIT 20: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO THIS SUMMER? LESSON 3: 1+2+3 STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Identify specific information through pronouncing three-syllable words with the stress on the second. 2. Pronounce three-syllable words with the stress on the second syllable: de'licious, e'normous, No'vember, and De'cember. 3. Read the gapped sentences, listen and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gaps. Then say the completed sentences aloud. 3. Say the chant: Where are you going? 4. Ss live responsibly and love country. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 4, Student’s book page 68. - Track (Unit 20-page 68), - Situational pictures and character cards. - A board, a computer and a projector. Activity 1: Listening practice (Activity 1: Listen and repeat.) - Have Ss open their books page 68. - Tell Ss that they are going to review phrases of saying delicious, enormous, november, december. - Produce the sounds of the words delicious, enormous, november, december. - Play the tape. - Play the tape again. - Do choral and individual repetition. Play the tape again for students to listen and repeat. Activity 2: full controlled & less controlled Task 1: Listening practice (Listen, circle and write. Then say aloud). - Tell Ps that we are going to listen to the recording and complete the sentences. - Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and guess the word to fill the gap of each sentence. You may ask Ps to say the words aloud. - Play the recording for Ps to listen a few times. - Ask Ps to listen to the recording and circle the correct answers. - Give Ps to time to do the task. Go around to offer help, if necessary. - Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Write the correct answers on the board for Ps copy down into their books. - Then ask Ps to say aloud the sentences in chorus, pairs and groups. - Feedback, correct and remark. Give answers: 1 - b, 2 - b, 3 – a, 4-a. Task 2: Let’s chant. - Tell Ps that we are going to say the chant. “Where are you going?”
- - Have Ps to read the chant and check comprehension. - Follow the procedure in teaching the Unit components in the introduction. - Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do the actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm of the chant. - Have Ps to read again the chant. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Pronounce three-syllable words with the stress on the second syllable: de'licious, e'normous, No'vember, and De'cember). 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (Ss live responsibly and love country.) - Remind students to prepare for the next lesson. D. Identify specific information through scanning a short paragraph about summer holiday of Phong’s family. 2. Write about the plan for their summer holidays, using the guiding questions. 3. Work in pairs to ask their partners about their plans for the summer holidays. Then tell the class about them. 4. Ss live responsibly and love country. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 4, Student’s book page 69. - Track (Unit 20-page 69). - A board, a computer and a projector. STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE Performance Tasks Performance products Assessment tools 1. Read the paragraph, and Observation Students’ answers complete the sentences. 2. - STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Warmer: Greeting and chanting - Greet the students. - Get 2 groups of six to the front of the class to perform the chant Where are you going? - Lead into the new lesson. Activity 1: Reading practice (Activity 1: Read and complete.) - Tell the class that they are going to read the text about summer holidays and complete the sentences. - Have Ps to read the incomplete sentences under the text and guess what words they need to fill the gaps. Focus them on the future plans. Check comprehension: - Ask Ps to read the text to find appropriate information to complete the sentences. - Get Ps to work in pairs or groups. - Give them time to do the task independently. Go around and offer help. - Get Ps to swap their answers. If there is enough time, let some pairs ask and answer the questions. Activity 2: full controlled & less controlled Task 1: Writing practice (Write about the plan for your summer holidays). - Tell Ps that they are going to write a short paragraph about the plan for their summer holidays. They may use Activity 4 to help them. - Have them work in pairs or groups to discuss what are they going to write. Remind them to use the suggested questions in the Ps’ Book. Check comprehension. - Give Ps time to do the task independently. Go around and offer help. - Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. - If there is time, ask one P to write their paragraph on the board. Key: Ps’ own answers. Task 2: Project (Work in pairs. Ask your partners about their plans for the summer holidays. Then tell the class about them). - Tell Ps that they are going to work in pairs and ask their partners about their holiday plans, using the five given questions. They should make notes and then tell the class about their partners’ plans. - If there is not enough time. Ask the Ps to do the interview after class and report the results in the next lesson. - Have Ps to tell about their holiday.
- Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Identify specific information through scanning a short paragraph about summer holiday of Phong’s family. Write about the plan for their summer holidays, using the guiding questions). 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (Ss live responsibly and love country.). - Remind students to prepare for the next lesson. D.
