- WEEK 9 Teaching date: 4D: 7/11/2022, 4C 10/11/2022 Period 33 STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Read and listen to the story. 2. Develop Ss reading and listening skills. 3. Complete the conversation. 4. Unscramble the words from the story. 5. Work in groups of three .Read the conversation. Then act it out with your own names. Unscramble the words from the story Student’s talk and interaction STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Warm-up: - Have Ss sing the song Can you swim? * “Chalkboard Fun” game - Divide the class into four teams. - Each student takes out a small chalkboard, rag and a piece of chalk. - Prepare some flashcards or pictures and sticks them on the board.
- - Say a phrase then give the students fifteen seconds to write down. - When the time is up, all the students hold up the chalkboards. - Give the team which has all the correct answers one point. - The team that gets the most points wins. - Teacher tells the class the objects of the lesson. Activity 1. Read and listen to the story. - Tell ss that they are going to read and listen to the story cat and mouse. Give a few seconds for ss to look at the pictures. Check Ss’ comprehension and give feedback. - Before they listen, ask them to look at the pictures and ask them questions to remind them of the characters. (E.g. What's the name of the black-and-white cat? What's the name of the white mouse? Can you see the brown cat and the red cat? Who are they? Do you know the grey mouse? Can you remember his name?) - Ask them to read the story in silence. Then play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books Activity 2. Complete the conversation. -Tell Ps that they are going to read the conversation in part 1(page 38) again and complete the conversation. Give them a few seconds to read the story again and check their comprehension. - Give them a time limit to do the task. - Ask them to swap and compare their answers before checking as a class. - Invite a group of seven to act out the story. Unscramble these words from the conversation - Tell the class that they are going to look at the scrambled letters and write the words. - Have them look at the scrambled letters and find the words from the story. - Set a time limit for the task. Give them the first letters of the words if they find the task too difficult. - Ask pupils to compare their answers before checking as a class. - Invite a few pairs to read the words aloud. Then act it out with your own names. - Tell pupils that they are going to practise the dialogues, using their own names. - Ask them to sit opposite of each other and practise the dialogue. - Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1.Identify the situation for the conversation between Peter and Phong(setting, participants, topics); 2. Ask and answer questions about where someone school is. Using : Where is your school? – It’s in _______. 3. Where is it? What class are you in? What do you know about the school? - Then get pupils to open their books on Page 40 and read the title. - Lead into new lesson Activity 1: Language input 1. Look, listen and repeat - Ask students to look at the four pictures (page 40) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (They are Peter and Phong) 2.What are they talking about? (talking about school) - Tell students that they are going to practise a conversation among Peter and Phong. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. - Ask students to look at pictures c, (Activity 1) and answer the following questions: 4. What does Jack ask Phong?( Where’s your school? ) 5. How does Phong answer? (It’s in Nguyen Du Street) - Elicit the sentence patterns: Where is your school? – It’s in _______. Activity 2: Full controlled &less controlled Task 1: Point and say - Tell the class that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about school using: * Structure: Where’s your school? − It’s___. - Review the names of the lessons with the class. - Ask pupils to write down the new word and the structure in their notebook. - Have pupils practice asking and answering in pairs. - Call some pairs to practice in front of the class - Give feedback and correct mistakes of pronunciation. Activity 3: Practice( Let’s talk).
- - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about school. - Get pupils time to work in pairs to ask and answer, using the structure. - Invite a few pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class. - Give feedback * Playing archery game. -There are 8 questions. If the answer is right, the arrow will be hitted the target. - Give that team one point if it’s a correct answer. - The team that gets the most points wins. Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Ask and answer questions about about where a school is..) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? - Show loving school subjects, using appropriate gestures and intonation to talk about where a school is. - Remind students to learn new words and structure by heart. - Prepare for the next lesson (Unit 6: Lesson 1- 34,5 on page 41).
